Lise’s record of public service while serving on the Select Board since 2018 includes:


Public Health: Covid

  • Lise was the first town leader to bring the pandemic to the attention of the community and actively work toward enacting safety protocols.

  • Efforts created a safer environment for residents and visitors

  • Promoted the “Safe Harbor” tourism idea to let people know that our town was open for business while strictly observant of Covid safety measures.

  • Co-Founder of the Provincetown Covid-19 Task Force under the auspices of the Barnstable County Medical Reserve Corps. Hosted facebook fundraiser, raised over $20,000.

  • Key Task Force initiatives: promoting safety to the public, handing out free masks and other PPE, Mental Health support services, Sunday community meals at St. Mary’s Church (feeding the hungers of the belly and heart:)


Housing

  • Lives in affordable housing and understands first-hand the struggle of working people in Provincetown.

  • Advocating for regulations to limit Air BnB type rentals in non-owner occupied residences.

  • Support the Economic Sustainability Committee proposal to form a Provincetown Development Corporation (a public-private partnership)

  • Supporter of Harbor Hill

  • Supporter of housing project at the VFW, and has worked to find consensus on VFW and with the police and fire needs - participated in the VFW visioning workshop; is proposing that the VFW housing project include a set-aside of units for fire department personnel as deemed needed by the Fire Department needs assessment.

  • Supporter of Homeowners Exemption

  • Supported the Governor’s housing initiative


Climate Change

  • Proposed and wrote the Article on the Warrant for town meeting that aims to ensure that all government work going forward considers the impacts of climate change and prioritizes natural resources protection.

  • Vocal advocate for climate change preparedness on the Select Board, including the need for funding mechanisms for our large-scale climate resiliency infrastructure projects.

  • Working to establish Provincetown as a case study for Harvard Kennedy School Taubman Center for State and Local Governments for climate change preparedness and infrastructure finance.

  • At every one of our annual budget hearings since 2018, I have asked each department head how climate change and resiliency factored into their fiscal projections/CIP. During this year’s budget hearings it was noted that these considerations have now been brought into the planning process.

  • Was out in the storms in 2018 to document the impact, and advocated for funding and preparedness, emergency services.

  • Support solar panels (and advocated for battery back storage) on municipal buildings (VMES).


Entrepreneurship and the Economy

  • Initiated and worked to create a film permitting process and policy to bring lucrative shoulder and off-season economic activity to town.

  • Created an Economic Stabilization and Sustainability Committee for the Select Board, which is currently working to survey all sectors of the community on the economic impacts of the pandemic, propose economic solutions to the housing crisis, and bring new resources.

  • Actively working with Sen. Julian Cyr’s office to promote broadband expansion and rectify the current internet service problems.

  • Founding Board Member of the Provincetown Public Art Foundation, which is working to bring new funding to local artists and social impact projects.


Environmental Protection and Natural Resources

  • Proposed and wrote the Article on the Warrant for town meeting that aism to ensure that all government work going forward considers the impacts of climate change and prioritizes natural resources protection.

  • Strong advocate for limiting Plastics use, neonicotinoid pesticides, mandating better recycling practices, and bringing curbside composting to Provincetown..

  • A an appointed Alternate Member to the Cape Cod National Seashore Advisory Commission I have been in dialogue, as needed with the CCNS leadership, and actively advocate for the reinstatement of the Commission by Congress.



Transparency and Constituent Services

  • Track record of answering all calls, emails, messages from constituents and encouraging greater voter participation.

  • Has advocated for better communications with the public in all areas of policy-making, especially during the Covid-19 crisis.

  • Has consistently worked and advocated for more public engagement, to take the time to include the community in public processes.

  • Is committed to improving transparency in major public projects including in the development phases.


Public Art and Culture

  • Founding Board Member of the Provincetown Public Art Foundation:

    Established in 2020 as a collaborative cross-functional entity for Artists, Organizations, and Non-profits in the Community to bring more public art to Provincetown and contribute to the town’s identity as a world-class cultural destination

    The first two artist commissions aim to support and amplify BIPOC and female voices

  • Collaborated with Jay Critchley and the Provincetown Community Compact to create a short film about the Swim for Life Ribbons Project: “Every year at the annual community Provincetown Swim for Life, participants and supporters write messages of love on colorful ribbons. When the Pulse nightclub shooting happened on June 16, 2016, Swim founder Jay Critchley invited the Provincetown community to Town Hall to add ribbons in dedication to the victims and offer solidarity to the LGBTQ community in Orlando, Florida.”

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

  • Proposed Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee to the Select Board. Final draft is awaiting placement on the agenda.

  • Member of PLOVR - DEI Working group

  • Have consistently advocated for Indigenous People’s Representation, developed Consultant Project that was approved by the Select Board 5-0.

Board Liaison Work

  • Acted as Select Board liaison to both the Pier Corps and the Harbor Committee, and successfully worked to arrange a mediation between the two entities in order to open dialogue toward conflict resolution.

  • Served as liaison to the OPEB Committee. Worked to determine the ability to advocate for funds to be directed to investments that are in keeping with town values such as Natural Resource protection (divest from plastics production), Climate Change abatement (divest from fossil fuels), and Human Rights (LGBTQ rights, women’s rights, gun safety).
